Enhanced UX and identification of grouped fields |
How should it work? |
Field Setting to input hex code for field |
Why is it needed? |
No way to clearly show that multiple fields are grouped together/related within a single category. |
There are often multiple fields that 'work together' to facilitate breaking data down in a way required by a given output channel. In working with these paired and related fields the Enrich interface can become difficult to read and use.
You don't necessarily want to create categories (or subcategories if they come along) as you would be creating potentially hundreds of categories to manage
It would be great to have a setting on a field type that would allow you to specify the shading of a field. This would facilitate the ability to make the UX much cleaner by tying these related fields together with color indication.
Example: Measurements
In measurements, you often need to output not only a human-readable value but also individual values to support facets, filtering, sliders, etc. You may also need multiple UOMs to support your need such as inches and millimeters.
With the ability to apply some field shading, I could take the current view and augment it to show the fields that are related or work together for a given purpose.
Another user recommended colored bars, i added vertical bars. attachments updated to show all options.

Thanks Aaron, for a well thought through and visualised suggestion. We'll add it to our ideas backlog for further investigation.
