Optional Service to Extend Automated backup Retention Window

Please, fill in the below fields to enable the processing of your idea.

Who would benefit?

Any Customers that values the preservation of their data beyond a 30 day window.

Any Customer or Partner that would rather not reinvent the wheel and create a custom backup & restore solution that takes away budget and time from more important and impactful work for the business.

What impact would it make?

Accidents & mistakes happen and there is no realistic way to completely avoid them without slowing down enrichment & release cycles or building overly strict and inflexible workflows.

We have seen multiple times where some error/issue went undetected for several weeks before it was caught which at that point is too late to recover and hours, days and even weeks of rework and reverse engineering is required.

Optionally Allowing for longer retention periods would give those customers the piece of mind to know they could roll back to a much later date to review, restore or validate their data as needed likely giving them more confidence to enable additional users and teams to work inside the PIM and avoid gate keeping due to lack of trust across business units, brands or regions.

How should it work?

A customer should be able to request a larger window at a cost the client and InRiver determine due to varying environment sizes.

Ideally in Control Center per customer & per environment should be a way for customer to optionally designate an extended retention period for each type of back up by adding a few new server settings with integer values representing days

365 = 1 year etc..

Why is it needed?

InRiver already has an excellent backup process up to 30 days which is great but not long enough for many customers that have large catalogs and don't catch an for several weeks. Inriver should help customers avoid developing or paying for a custom solution likely resulting with a time consuming and costly sub par backup and restore process.

Enabling this feature for additional cost for clients would give them the confidence in knowing that if substantial data loss or data issues were introduced at any time within there defined rollback window with InRIver whenever data issues are identified a rollback or point in time restore could be spun up in a separate instance and the data recovered in a matter of hours/days vs the weeks/months it could take if the data needed to be enriched and added from scratch again or simply completely lost.

Additional feedback, background or context:

I think this is something larger Professional and Enterprise tier Clients would greatly appreciate and opt into.
