'Loading' advanced query notification

How:

Why: There used to be a notification to say when an advanced query was being loaded. Now it doesn't show, or at least doesn't when other queries are visible. Not sure if this was changed when multi-tabbed queries came along.

When loading a large query it can take more than a few seconds but currently there's no response from the system so I click to search the query and the popup closes and theres no feedback to suggest anything is happening.

Even switching between query tabs, it doesn't say anything about it loading so you click from the current query to another query tab that has a large query and its still showing the results from the previous query until suddenly it will load the query you expect to see.

I think its better to show a 'loading' message than show nothing because it at least shows the user that the system is doing something. Without anything it just seems like the system isn't reacting or is broken.

Sometimes you get a loading symbol thats hidden behind some other UI (see attachment). This looks to be a bug as its half visible. Maybe this is supposed to be fully visible and thats what I'm missing.
