Ability to set what types of results should appear in the search results and auto suggest

How: Set in the Control Centre what result types should appear in search results

Why: The search functionality currently returns all content types associated with a search term, including products, images, documents, resources and other content. However, our customers primarily use the platform to locate products and are not interested in these additional content types during the search process.

As a result, both the search results and auto-suggest functionality become cluttered with irrelevant information, making it more difficult for users to quickly identify the products they are looking for.

Impact: The inclusion of non-product content reduces the effectiveness of the search experience by introducing unnecessary distractions and increasing the time taken to locate products. This can lead to:

• Reduced search efficiency, with users needing to filter through irrelevant results.

• A poorer customer experience due to cluttered and less intuitive search and auto-suggest functionality.

• Increased risk of users selecting incorrect content or abandoning their search altogether.

• A perception that the platform is less user-friendly and less focused on customer needs.

Restricting search results and auto-suggest to product content would create a cleaner, more relevant search experience that aligns with how customers use the platform. This would improve usability, enable customers to find products more quickly, and present a more professional, purpose-built solution.

Providing the ability to configure search so that only product content is returned would create a cleaner, faster and more relevant search experience. It would reduce the volume of data processed during each search, improving overall performance and scalability while enabling customers to find products more quickly. This enhancement would improve usability, support future growth of the platform, and deliver a more professional, purpose-built customer experience.

Additional context: If you make this configurable so that your clients can choose what resources to show or not, this keeps existing customers happy if they like that feature and other customers happy if they dont.
