I use a lot of time to find the correct QUERY in the "Shared work area" and because the area closes after I have altered the query, I have to start over going through the structure for every Category...

In the meantime, to help solve parts of your need, I can let you know that it's possible to setup additional top nodes in the work areas tree using the inriver REST-API, so this is something that you can investigate together with your implementation partner if this is something that you would like to add to your solution. The API endpoint to use can be found here and this is what it could look like when a new top node is added to the work areas tree:
