How:
Why: When running a Syndicate template, if you download from Enrich it will have the date/time appended. If you download from Syndicate History it will have the Work Area appended. But if you send via FTP/SFTP it only uses the Extension filename. In most use cases this is fine, it will replace the file with each run since they all have the same name. But in other cases they are actually different data files and we need them all to exist. Ex: Same extension ran with different Work Areas.
Scheduled Weekly
Syndicate: Products WA: All Products
Syndicate: Products WA: New Products
These would output file would both be named Products.xlsx, based on the ext and be ftp'd to the same place.
I would like the ability to control whether something (Work Area, date, etc) is appended to the filename or not.
For Who: Syndicate ftp users
Impact: Currently we would have to create an Extension for every iteration we could have - so one extension for each Work Area or Cadence.
Additional context:
This has been mentioned on Service Center as an issue by others, going several years back. The suggestion has always been to use the Custom Syndicate Ext, but that seems extreme for such a basic ask. https://community.inriver.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/8496261847964--Syndication-Add-timestamp-to-file-name
